Greyhound Racing to End in Arizona

On May 13th, Governor Doug Doucey of Arizona signed two bills which will put an end to live dog racing in Arizona effective January 1, 2017.  However, the sole remaining track in Arizona, Tuscon Greyhound Park, could close as early as the end of June 2016 providing certain requirements are met for placing the some 400 greyhounds that are at the track.  Attorney for the Tuscon Greyhound Park, Michael Racy, said that approximately 25 percent will be placed at other tracks outside of Arizona to continue racing and the rest will be retired to home as pets.
