Greyhound Reach the Beach

Greyhound Reach the Beach is an event for greyhound and sighthound owners.  It is held every Columbus Day weekend in October in the oceanside communities of Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
The event celebrates our greyhounds, creates awareness of the need for foster and adoptive homes, and raises some funds to support greyhound adoption.  2019 is the twenty-fifth year of this very special event.  The event this year will be held for the first time in the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center (RBCC).

Special Training

BRGA is pleased to start a series of Basic Manners Classes specifically geared to greyhounds. (It’s really to train the humans.) Every dog is different and every dog learns in his or her own way. This class will help you understand how your dog learns, so you can develop fun ways to teach them basic manners.

The first class will be on getting your greys attention. This will be a prerequisite to all subsequent classes.

The next class will cover wait; the third class will cover come. All training will be using fun games and a positive attitude. So bring your grey, some super high-value treats and their favorite toys and plan to have fun learning how to communicate with your greyhound.

The cost is $20 and we are limited to 12 dogs. A liability form will be sent to you once you register. Please sign and bring with you to the event.

BRGA Annual Picnic - SOLD OUT

Mark your calendars for the annual BRGA picnic to be held on Saturday, September 12th from 12pm to 3pm.  This year, we will once again be at 8 Chains North Winery, 38593 Daymont Lane in Waterford. It's a beautiful country drive to their location in Loudoun County.

We will have a private, fenced area overlook the vineyard. The dogs can roam freely, so be sure to bring a muzzle. There will be tables and chairs under tents for eating, drinking, and socializing, but please feel free to bring a blanket or folding chairs if you want to spread out on the grass. We will also have other canopies set up to provide shade and space for social distancing. Be sure to also bring a face mask, as it may be required inside the winery.

Admission is $30 per person, which includes lunch, open wine bar (while supplies last), and an ice cream social for hoomans and hounds. Kids aged 12 and under are FREE. Each adult guest will also receive a goodie bag filled with greyt greyhound gear.

We plan on having a group roo, a blessing of the hounds, and will have lots of great greyhound items for sale. Of course, there will be water on hand for the dogs, wading pools, and poop stations.
